Designing the set
"Christine Urquhart, set design mentor for both plays shared more about her process, plans, and inspiration behind the exciting and beautiful aesthetic for the show.
"Designing two sets one one stage is an exciting prospect, I aimed to create scenic elements that worked for both shows that were dynamic and exciting for the projection - that was integral in each script. The long cyclorama appears infinite, the ceiling panels with disjointed cables hint to the interconnectivity of '21st Narcissus' and the mechanics of a theatre of '7500 days' at the same time.
With 7500 days I felt it connected with the floor, with reality, the raked stage is a little microcosmic island for the actors to play with, the textures are raw and unfinished, the theatrical elements are unapologetic and exposed. The truckable structures were created from recycled steel and unpainted plywood as if they made the set in their Dad's garage and didn't have time to finish it before the audience walked in. The projection is playful and tangible and moved back and forth across the cyclorama on hand on a wheeled trolley."
